(And Why Ours Feels a Little Different)
Elizabeth Kate Bridal · Crowle, North Lincolnshire

You're engaged. You're excited. And you've probably already spent a fair few evenings down a Pinterest rabbit hole wondering what on earth you actually want.
Then comes the bit that feels a little daunting, booking your first bridal appointment.
Will it be awkward? Will they judge your underwear? Will I need to take my bra off? Will they judge you if you don't know your silhouettes from your column gowns? What if you cry? What if you don't cry and everyone expects you to?
We get it. And we want to take all of that out of it.
At Elizabeth Kate Bridal in Crowle, right on the North Lincolnshire and South Yorkshire border, we do things a little differently. This isn't a conveyor belt. It's your moment. And we treat it that way. Think of us as your fairy dress mothers, here to calm the nerves, offer honest advice, and help you find the dress that feels like it was made for you!
First things first - it starts with you, not the dresses.
When you walk through our door, we don't immediately thrust a rail of dresses at you. We sit down. We chat. We get to know you.
We'll ask about your wedding day, your venue, your vibe, whether you're planning a barefoot beach ceremony or a full black-tie ballroom situation. We'll talk about how you want to feel walking down the aisle. Confident? Romantic? Like the most put-together version of yourself? All of the above?
We want to understand you before we pick a single gown. Because the right dress isn't just about what looks good, it's about you, your day, the bride you want to be and how you want to feel on the day.
Already know exactly what you want? Great. No idea at all? Also great. Both are completely normal, and both are our favourite kind of appointment to take.

Yes - someone will actually help you.
This is the question we get asked most. And the answer is always yes.
Your personal stylist will be with you for your entire appointment, advising you about shapes and styles to suit and flatter your body, showing you how to get in and out of each gown, adjusting how it sits, and making sure you can actually see what the dress will look like when it's fitted to you.
If a dress is a little big, we'll clip it in so you're not swimming in fabric. If it's a little snug, we'll use soft ribbon fastenings so you can see the full shape. You're not here to wrestle with a gown, you're here to fall in love with one.
The only question we want you focusing on is this:
How do I feel in this dress?
How many dresses will you try?
We usually work through around seven gowns per appointment. It sounds like a lot, but it's genuinely the sweet spot, enough to explore different styles, shapes and fabrics, but not so many that you end up overwhelmed and can't remember which was which.
Our job is to listen, not to just pull everything off the rail. So as we go, we'll ask:
What do you love about this one?
How does it make you feel?
Is there anything you'd change?
Your answers help us get closer to your dress with every try-on. Sometimes brides find it on the first or the third gown. Sometimes the seventh surprises them completely. That's the magic of it.
The veil moment is real - and it will get you.
Once you've found some styles you love, we'll start building the full look. We're talking veils, hair accessories, the finishing touches that turn a beautiful dress into a complete bridal vision.
And we'll be honest with you, it's usually the moment the veil goes on that it all clicks. That's the moment brides look in the mirror and suddenly, properly feel it.
That "oh. I'm actually a bride" moment. It's one of our favourite things to witness.
When you find the one.
Once you've narrowed it down to your favourites, we go back and try them again. No rushing. No pressure. Just you, your people, and the dresses you love most, side by side.
When your heart's happy, we'll celebrate with you. Because yes, finding your dress is absolutely worth celebrating.
To secure your gown, we take a 50% deposit and sort all the paperwork together. Then we get the camera out for your "I said yes" photos. We don’t use them for our marketing, it’s your special moment not ours! But you'll want to remember this bit.
And before you leave? You'll go home with an Elizabeth Kate Bridal gift: a beautiful branded bride mug and a bottle of Prosecco. Because this deserves a proper toast.
What happens after you say yes?
Your dress is ordered especially for you and typically arrives around three months before your wedding day. When it lands, we'll be in touch, and you'll have the option to have all your alterations done right here with us too.
From your very first appointment to your final fitting, we're with you every step of the way.

Wedding Dress Appointment FAQ'S
Everything you want to know before booking your appointment at Elizabeth Kate Bridal
Can I bring people with me?
Yes - and we'd love to meet them. You're welcome to bring up to three guests to your appointment. Our advice? Bring the people whose opinion you genuinely trust and who know how to hype you up. This is your moment, and the right kind of support in the room makes all the difference.
We do recommend keeping your group small and close - too many opinions can make the decision harder, not easier.
Do I need to know my budget before I come?
It really helps if you have a rough figure in mind, not because we'll push you towards a certain price point, but because it helps us pull the right dresses for you from the start. We'd hate for you to fall completely in love with a gown that doesn't work for your budget.
If you're not sure, just be honest with us. We're not here to upsell you, we're here to help you find the right dress at the right price for you.
What size samples do you hold?
Our samples range from a size 8 to a size 20, so we have a really good range to work with across our collection. If a sample isn't your exact size, don't worry, that's completely normal in bridal. We use clips and soft fastenings to help you see exactly how the finished, fitted dress will look on you.
Every dress is ordered to your measurements and then altered to fit, so what you see in the sample is just the starting point.
How far in advance should I book my appointment?
As a general rule, we'd recommend starting your dress search around 12 to 18 months before your wedding day. Most wedding gowns take around 5 to 6 months to be made and delivered, and you'll want time for alterations on top of that.
That said, if your wedding is sooner, please still get in touch. We'll always do our best to find a solution, whether that's a rush order or a dress from our ready-to-go collection.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Keep it simple. A strapless or low-cut bra is ideal if you have one, as it won't show under most necklines. Nude or seamless underwear works well too. Avoid heavy fake tan on the day if you can, mostly to protect the gowns!
As for hair and makeup - do whatever makes you feel like you. Some brides come in full glam, others come straight from work. There's no right or wrong. We just want you to feel comfortable.
Do you do alterations?
Yes, we offer in-house alterations here at Elizabeth Kate Bridal, so you never have to go hunting for a seamstress on your own. Having your alterations done with us means we already know your dress, your measurements and your vision. It makes the whole process so much smoother.
Alterations are quoted separately and will depend on your dress and what's needed, we'll talk you through everything at the right stage.
Can I take photos during my appointment?
Of course! We actively encourage it. When you find dresses you love, take as many photos as you need, different angles, with and without a veil, whatever helps you remember how you felt. Sharing with family who couldn't make it on the day is totally fine too.
The one thing we'd ask is that you keep any photos of dresses you haven't chosen just for you and your close circle, rather than posting them publicly, just out of respect for our other brides who might be visiting.
What if I need to cancel or rearrange my appointment?
Life happens, we completely understand. We just ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to change your appointment, so we can offer that slot to another bride. We'll always do our best to find a new time that works for you.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes, we offer both evening and weekend appointments, because we know life is busy. Whether you're working full time, juggling a packed schedule or just can't make a weekday work, we've got options that fit around you.
Weekend slots do tend to fill up quickly, so we'd recommend booking ahead to get the date you want.
Still got a question we haven't answered?
Just drop us a message - we're always happy to chat. 🤍
