How We Met

We met on my last night out in Sheffield before moving to Manchester for University at 18. I thought there's no way he'll drive over to visit me, but to my surprise he visited the weekend after and the rest is history. 

The Proposal

Joe carried the ring around Lisbon with him for 3 days before finding the perfect spot on a church rooftop overlooking the city. No one was up there and it was just us and my family, so perfect!

What was your wedding vibe/theme?

Classic black tie and mixed with some hollywood glamour. 

Favourite Wedding Day Moments

My favourite moment of the day was actually sat at the wedding breakfast, listening to the jazz band play, with beautiful food and both of us just sitting back and watching all our loved ones (that had mostly never met one another) chatting away to each other and having fun. It made all the planning and money spent so worth it to see them all smiling. 

The Dress Journey

Why I Chose Elizabeth Kate Bridal

I didn't find Elizabeth Kate straight away. I had visited 5 other shops nearby and tried on over 20 dresses before finding them. I knew the style I wanted and really struggled to find anyone that offered even anything remotely similar. In the end, I AI searched the style I wanted and asked it to find a brand that matched. It came up with the Eva Lendel dress and luckily stocked it 25 minutes away at Elizabeth Kate. 

Finding The Perfect Eva Lendel Baccara Wedding Dress

There were so many features I wanted from a dress - off the shoulder, lace sleeves, corset waistband, leg split so trying to find a dress that matched all 4 features felt impossible. Therefore finding the Eva Lendel Baccara dress felt like a match made in heaven. 

How did you feel when you found "the one"?

The Eva Lendel Baccara dress was the first one I tried on at Elizabeth Kate and straight away I knew it was the one! It had everything I'd dreamed of in a dress and felt truly one of a kind. 

Did you customise your dress or style it in a unique way?

We considered a neck scarf with the dress for multiple appointments, but in the end we felt the scarf would take away all the unique features the dress already has. 

Advice For Brides Currently Dress Shopping

Do your research. I didn't do any research at first, just expected bridal shops to have something I'd fall in love with straight away and therefore you can come out feeling demotivated when you don't feel like any are "the one". Try and find a brand that matches the style you're wanting and then find a stockist. 

What would you say to someone considering visiting us? 

Absolutely do it! Holly & Kim are an absolute dream at helping find the perfect dress for you. They made me feel so at ease and no pressure at all. They have lots of contemporary and stylish dresses, so are really unique compared to a lot of traditional shops. 

Wedding Planning Advice From A Real Bride

What advice would you give to brides about the planning/day/anything you think!?

• Plan well in advance, so then the year running up to your wedding you can just enjoy stress free as there's nothing to do until the month before! 

• Don't worry about things going right on the day. Some things won't work out but you'll not even realise it as you'll be all caught up in the bubble. 

Final Thoughts

Enjoy and take in every second! Everyone said to me that it flies by in a flash and that is so true! I took snippets throughout the day where I just sat back and watched all my loved ones together in one place... for us. It's an overwhelming feeling to have so much love in one place, so take it all in and appreciate it. 

Anything else you'd love to share about your experience?

If you have the budget, get an illustrator to do guest paintings instead of favours. Our guests absolutely loved it! Shout out to Sarah Coombes Stationery for her amazing artwork.
