Updated: Dec 7, 2023

Real Elizabeth Kate Bride Wearing Enzoani Love Fitted lace Alara Wedding Dress

How did you two meet?

We met at work around 14 years ago. We were colleagues first, then friends, and around 4 years ago we started our relationship, and now I’m so lucky I get to say that he’s my husband and my best friend!

What about the proposal, how did it go?

Steve proposed on Christmas Day last year in front of our families. He got down on one knee and was even wearing a kilt so he could hide the ring in the sporran! It was a complete surprise and no one knew his plans other than my Mum because he’d asked for her permission to marry me.

What was your wedding style/inspo?

We live in a rural location so we went for a countryside themed wedding. We wanted live music so had a band in the evening and acoustic music in the afternoon. We just wanted a relaxed and fun atmosphere for us and our guests.

Tell us about your dress!

Enzoani Love Alara Wedding Dress. She is so beautiful. I had in mind that I wanted a more fitted style wedding dress with a low back, something elegant and classy, and Alara was the one. Elizabeth Kate was the first bridal shop my mum and I visited and were so happy we did. Kim and Holly are just amazing. Selecting my wedding dress was such a great day, and they made everything so easy. Everyone commented on how gorgeous my dress was including Steve’s Italian relatives who spotted the Italian designer immediately!

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

Steve says “all of it, I couldn’t pick one thing”. I agree that our whole day was just perfect from start to finish. If I had to choose, I really enjoyed the wedding ceremony the most which is surprising as that was the part I was the most nervous about, standing up in front of so many people. We wrote personal vows to each other which without realising, we had written almost identical vows.

Any changes? (Things you wish you’d done or wish you hadn’t!)

We both agree there isn’t anything we would change. The day goes so fast but we were able to savour and enjoy it.

Any tips for brides to be?

  • Don’t stress or worry about the day, enjoy a relaxing morning getting ready with your bridal party, but know your timings so you can give yourself time to get into your dress and take it all in.

  • Steve and I were moved to a private room after the ceremony to have a drink together alone, these 10 minutes were priceless.

  • But mainly, don’t flinch and blink when doing the confetti throw!
