Daisy's Real Bride Story | MWL Sebastian at Little Wold Vineyard
Updated: Sep 24

"I felt myself in it."
That's how Daisy describes the moment she found her dress, sparkly MWL Sebastian, finished with a bespoke puffy sleeve made by our own Kim and Holly. It's the perfect line for a wedding that was, in Daisy's words, all about being "a big old party": black bridesmaids' dresses, bright pink flowers, a sax man, fireworks, and DJ Matt keeping everyone on the dance floor at Little Wold Vineyard.

The Dress Journey
What made you choose Elizabeth Kate Bridal?
When I started 'dress-scrolling', Made With Love and Eva Lendel were two designers I kept coming across, so I went on a mission to find a shop that stocked them! I'm Hull-based, so luckily EK was close by!
Tell us about your dress, what did you fall in love with?
MWL Sebastian had been on my radar from all my scrolling! I wanted something sparkly, A-line, not too 'big', but still fun. When am I ever going to get the chance to wear a dress like that again?!
How did you feel when you found "the one"?
I felt myself in it! I wasn't emotional - just content. It felt like me.
Did you customise your dress or style it in a unique way?
Kim and Holly are the magicians behind this! Sebastian is originally a strapless dress, but I knew I wanted some form of sleeve. We went back and forth with a few ideas, and then, in a moment of genius, they suggested a puffy sleeve, which they then made for me! I'm SO glad they did. It looked perfect, I was so comfortable, and they were just the perfect vibe.
What's one piece of advice you'd give to brides currently dress shopping?
I was adamant that I didn't want to spend loads on a dress because 'it's just one day' and 'what a waste of money.' I did hit the jackpot and bought my dress as an ex-sample dress from EK, so I saved some money, but it was still an expense! The things you're going to keep forever are the photos, so you need something that you feel completely comfortable and confident in. You want to look at your photos and think, 'OMG, that's me!' not 'that dress was fine, it was cheap.' You don't want the trendy dress if it doesn't feel like you! Also, as a mid-size girlie, I was pretty anxious about dress shopping. I thought I'd be squeezing my bum into a load of size 6 dresses! That just wasn't the case. Kim and Holly were so supportive and just great.
What would you say to someone considering visiting us?
Be open and honest with Kim and Holly. They make magic happen, and they can really help you if you let them in!
Daisy's MWL Sebastian Dress
Daisy chose MWL Sebastian, a sparkly A-line wedding dress that gave her exactly what she was looking for: fun, sparkle and shape without feeling too "big." Originally designed as a strapless gown, Daisy knew she wanted sleeves. After exploring a few ideas with Kim and Holly, the team created a bespoke puffy sleeve to complete her look, a brilliant example of how a dress can be made to feel even more like you with the right styling and alterations.
The Couple
How did you and your partner meet?
Ben and I met during Freshers' Week at university!
Tell us about the proposal!
Ben proposed at home, on a Friday night after work. He made us dinner, sent the dog into the dining room wearing a rucksack with a card inside, and then got down on one knee with the ring! I was slightly suspicious that week when multiple bottles of Whispering Angel arrived at the house in preparation!
The Wedding Day
When and where did you get married?
We got married at Little Wold Vineyard on 4th July 2026!
What was your wedding vibe/theme?
We just wanted a big old party! We had a registrar-led ceremony with two readings by friends: an extract from Dolly Alderton's Everything I Know About Love, and Georgie Jones' Worst Case Scenario / A Love Poem. The boys were in tuxes, my brides-gals (as I called them!) were in black dresses, and we had bright pinks for the flowers. We had a DJ bringing the vibe all day, a sax man, fireworks - basically everything we needed for a party!
What was the wedding budget?
When we started planning, we initially set £30k as the figure we'd be happy spending ourselves. Quickly, our families offered to help with various things, and the wedding ended up costing around £40k in total - not including the wedding cake and cupcakes for dessert, which my mother-in-law made! I was a vinted queen - lots of bits came from friends, family and Vinted, including my Charlotte Mills shoes!
What was your favourite moment of the day?
The drinks reception! Guests were sat on the terrace of the vineyard, drinking wine and eating canapés, with DJ Matt bringing the vibe. It was the first real moment of relief where I could think, 'Oh my god, the vision actually worked!'
Advice for Future Brides
What's one piece of advice you'd give to brides about the planning/day/anything you think!?
Only do things that you want to do! Don't do something because you think you should - really think about what you want for your day. And it's OK to change your mind about things. For example, I was adamant I wasn't going to have my dad walk me down the aisle - 'I'm a strong, independent woman!' - but it was actually one of the highlights of the day, and one of my favourite pictures is of me and Dad walking down the aisle together!
Anything else you'd love to share about your experience?
My Mum can't stop raving about Kim and Holly and the dress shop, and my mother-in-law is after a job! Ha!
Standout Suppliers
Any standout suppliers you'd love to recommend?
We had some insane suppliers!
The team at Little Wold are a dream. I'd heard so many horror stories about venues being petty and charging for everything, but the team at Little Wold are so approachable and understanding.
Ben's suit was made by Cock of the Walk Bespoke in Hull. Gill is another magician, I'm sure! Ben's tux was chef's kiss.
Katherine and Sam from Inspire Images have absolutely blown us away with the photos!
Blues Kitchen did our food. We had canapés, sharing boards and evening tacos. So many guests said on the day, and since, that our wedding food was the 'best they'd ever had!'
Thorn and Bramble did our flowers, the photos speak for themselves!
And DJ Matt Hydes is an absolute legend. When we told friends we were having a DJ, so many faces glazed over like, 'Oh no…' But Matt is not your usual wedding DJ! He knows how to bring a vibe and get the party going (without playing Come On Eileen! Ha!). One of my brides-gals has already booked him for her wedding next year!

Frequently Asked Questions
When should I start looking for my wedding dress?
Most brides start shopping around 12–18 months before their wedding, although there are options for brides with less time. It’s worth booking your first appointment once you have your wedding date and venue confirmed.
How many wedding dresses should I try on?
There’s no magic number, but around 6–10 dresses is often enough to understand what feels right without becoming overwhelmed. The aim isn’t to try on as many dresses as possible, it’s to find the one that feels like you.
What should I take to my first wedding dress appointment?
You don’t need to bring lots with you. Wear underwear you feel comfortable in and bring shoes if you already have an idea of your heel height. Most importantly, bring an open mind, you may end up loving something completely different from what you imagined.
How many people should I bring wedding dress shopping?
We recommend keeping your guest list small. Too many opinions can make an already emotional decision much harder. At Elizabeth Kate Bridal, we usually welcome up to three guests, with four as the absolute maximum.
Can I customise my wedding dress?
Some wedding dresses can be altered or customised depending on the designer, construction and the changes you have in mind. Sleeves, straps and other details may sometimes be possible, so it’s always worth discussing your ideas with your bridal stylist.
What size wedding dresses do bridal boutiques stock?
Sample sizes vary between designers and boutiques, and wedding dresses generally fit differently from high-street clothing. A good bridal appointment should focus on how the dress makes you feel rather than the number on the label.
How do I know when I’ve found my wedding dress?
There isn’t one specific reaction you should have. Some brides cry, some grin from ear to ear and some, just like Daisy, feel completely content because they simply feel like themselves. The right dress is the one you feel comfortable, confident and happy wearing.
Where can I find modern wedding dresses near Hull?
Elizabeth Kate Bridal is based in Crowle, North Lincolnshire, and welcomes brides from Hull and across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. We stock designers including MWL, Eva Lendel, Serene by Madi Lane, Rebecca Ingram.
