Chelsea wearing her Serene by Madi Lane Levi wedding dress at her Croatian wedding

A classic bridal look, a bespoke scarf and a sunset first dance

From meeting on Tinder to a surprise proposal at home, Chelsea and her partner's story eventually led them to a destination wedding in Croatia, with good weather, good music and their favourite people exactly as they'd hoped.

For her wedding day, Chelsea chose Levi from Serene by Madi Lane, falling for the classic feel of the gown and the perfect-length train. She then made the look completely her own with a bespoke bridal scarf and long veil.

And when it came to finding her dress, Chelsea had some wonderfully straightforward advice for other brides: do your research before booking your appointments.

Here's Chelsea's story.

FROM TINDER TO A CROATIAN WEDDING

How did you and your partner meet?

Tinder!

Tell us about the proposal!

We'd come back from date night at Pipe and Glass, and I was told to wait in the car and he gave me a letter. When he led me into the house, the garden had been transformed with candles, fairy lights and a field of flowers, and had music playing. It was so perfect.

A CROATIAN WEDDING WITH THEIR FAVOURITE PEOPLE

What was your wedding vibe/theme?

We just wanted somewhere with good weather and good music with our favourite people.

And that's exactly what Chelsea's wedding was about, creating a day that felt like them, rather than trying to fit into a particular wedding theme.

A destination wedding can be a lovely way to make the whole celebration feel like an experience shared with the people closest to you. For Chelsea, the brief was wonderfully simple: sunshine, music and their favourite people.

FINDING HER WEDDING DRESS

What made you choose Elizabeth Kate Bridal?

Elizabeth Kate in my opinion only stock the best designers and dresses!

Tell us about your dress, what did you fall in love with?

I loved the designer of my dress and I actually fell in love with two similar ones. My dress felt classic and exactly what I pictured myself in. The train was the perfect length, and Elizabeth Kate made me a bridal scarf too which completely elevated the look. The long veil definitely gave the statement factor too!

How did you feel when you found “the one”?

It just felt 'right'.

Sometimes there isn't a complicated explanation.

You try on a dress, look in the mirror and something just clicks. Chelsea knew she wanted a classic bridal look, and Levi gave her exactly the feeling she'd pictured, with the scarf and veil adding the finishing touches.

MAKING THE LOOK HER OWN

Did you customise your dress or style it in a unique way?

We added in the scarf, and even choosing the width, length and the shape of the cut was exciting!

We love this part of Chelsea's story because the dress itself didn't have to change completely for her to make it feel personal.

The bespoke scarf became part of the look, with Chelsea choosing the width, length and shape herself. Paired with her long veil, it gave her classic wedding dress a more individual finish.

THE MOMENT SHE'LL NEVER FORGET

What was your favourite moment of the day?

We had a private first dance during sunset, just us two, on the rooftop with the DJ playing a slow cover of 'Chris Malinchak - So good to me'.

CHELSEA'S ADVICE FOR BRIDES

What's one piece of advice you'd give to brides currently dress shopping?

To research all bridal shops before you go in and start trying dresses on to make sure they actually stock the designers you like. This saved me so much time in the long run and made the experience stress-free. I ended up only trying on about 6 different dresses in total, which made the experience fun, not stressful or overwhelming!

It's genuinely good advice.

You don't need to book every bridal appointment you can find just because you're starting your dress search. If you've already fallen in love with particular designers or styles, check which boutiques stock them first.

It can make the whole experience feel much more focused, and, as Chelsea found, much less overwhelming.

What would you say to someone considering visiting us?

Bring any jewellery that you're thinking of wearing on your wedding.

ADVICE FOR THE WEDDING DAY

What's one piece of advice you'd give to brides about the planning/day/anything you think!?

The planning is meant to be exciting, not stressful! Invest in good photography. Once the day is over, you only have your ring and the photos! Your wedding day is going to be the most perfect day!

There is something lovely about Chelsea's approach to the whole day.

After all the planning, the details and the decisions, you're doing it all because you're getting married to your favourite person. The rest is there to make memories.

CHELSEA'S DESTINATION WEDDING SUPPLIERS

Chelsea has also shared some of the suppliers who helped bring her Croatia wedding together:

Faux flowers: @bloomingdels_ For a destination wedding, flowers that can travel well and still look beautiful throughout the celebrations can be a practical consideration, particularly when you're planning from home!

DRESS SPOTLIGHT - Levi from Serene by Madi Lane

Chelsea's Classic Bridal Look

Chelsea chose Levi by Serene by Madi Lane, a classic wedding dress with a fitted crepe silhouette, strapless sweetheart neckline and curved waistline. The gown's train gave Chelsea the classic feel she had pictured, while her long veil added the statement element she wanted.

She also worked with Elizabeth Kate Bridal to create a bespoke bridal scarf, choosing the width, length and shape herself.

It's a lovely example of how accessories can completely change the finished feel of a wedding dress, and how a few carefully chosen details can make a bridal look feel much more personal.

PLANNING YOUR OWN WEDDING DRESS SEARCH?

Chelsea's experience is a good reminder that wedding dress shopping doesn't have to mean trying on endless gowns.

Start with the designers and styles you naturally love, then find bridal boutiques that stock them. From there, choose appointments where you'll have the chance to explore those designers properly.

And don't worry about how many dresses you're “supposed” to try.

Chelsea tried around six.

She found the one that felt right.

And that was enough.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where is Elizabeth Kate Bridal located?

Elizabeth Kate Bridal is a wedding dress boutique in Crowle, North Lincolnshire, within easy travelling distance of Hull, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, York, Lincoln and Sheffield.

How many wedding dresses should you try before choosing one?

There is no set number of wedding dresses you need to try. Chelsea tried around six dresses in total and found the experience fun rather than overwhelming. The important thing is finding a dress that feels right for you.

When should you start looking for your wedding dress?

About 12-18 months before your wedding date to allow time for ordering, fittings and alterations. Researching designers and boutiques first (including which shops near Hull, York, Lincoln or Sheffield stock them) makes the process more focused.

What should I do before booking a wedding dress appointment?

A bit of research! Chelsea specifically recommends checking which designers each bridal shop stocks before booking appointments. This can save time and means you're more likely to be trying on dresses that genuinely suit your style.

What should I bring to a wedding dress appointment?

Chelsea recommends bringing any jewellery you're considering wearing on your wedding day. You can also bring inspiration images and any accessories you already know you want to incorporate into your bridal look.

Can wedding dress accessories change the look of a dress?

Absolutely. Chelsea's classic wedding dress was styled with a bespoke bridal scarf and long veil. The scarf added a personal element, while the long veil created the statement factor she wanted.

What should I consider when planning a destination wedding?

Think about the overall experience you want to create, as well as the practical details of getting married away from home. For Chelsea, the priority was simple: good weather, good music and their favourite people.

As with the other Real Bride Stories, I wouldn't create BlogPosting schema because Wix is already handling that. The complementary schema should be:
