Meet Eleanor & Mitch

From finding her dream dress on Pinterest to wearing it down the aisle, Eleanor found her perfect Posie by MWL at Elizabeth Kate Bridal, with a few beautiful personal touches along the way.

Eleanor and Mitch’s story began in the most unexpected way during lockdown, with a Tinder match that turned into a socially distanced walk, and eventually, a wedding at the beautiful Hazel Gap Barn.

After discovering her dream dress on Pinterest, Eleanor thought she might never get the chance to try it on. Then, months later, she spotted Elizabeth Kate Bridal’s Made With Love trunk show on Instagram. The rest, as they say, is history.

Here’s Eleanor’s story, in her own words…

How We Met

This is very unlike either of us but we actually met on tinder during the first lockdown! Both had downloaded it as a joke but when we matched , Mitch asked me to a social distanced walk (crazy times!) so we did and we have been inseparable ever since!

The Proposal

Mitch proposed to me whilst we were on my family holiday!! He has been planning it for 10 months!! Back in October he took my dad for lunch and asked him if he could marry me and they planned the proposal together! We had just spent a week in Florida doing Disney world and universal studios and then we went on a cruise around the Caribbean. During the middle of the cruise they had a formal/dress your best night so we all got suited and booted and went to the top deck to get some pictures and when it was mine and Mitch’s turn he got on one knee! My dad was secretly recording the whole time which was so special. It was the best surprise ever!

Our Wedding Day at Hazel Gap Barn

We got married at Hazel Gap Barn on the 08.08.26. Our wedding theme was dusky blue and it was a little bit of a barn vibe. We wanted it to be classy but also quite personal to us.

We had a rough budget but once I got planning and getting quotes we realised the wedding world was much more expensive then we thought! So we are very grateful to family who helped out.

Favourite moment of the day is super hard!! We loved every minute! I loved the second we had just got married we got taken to a private room where drinks and canapés were waiting for us and it was just us two! We really soaked up the moment and then we went out and did confetti which was super fun!! I think Mitch’s favourite part would probably be the ceremony or our first dance!

Finding My Wedding Dress

The day after I got engaged I was on Pinterest looking at everything wedding related 🤣 and I thought I’d start looking at dresses and I found one which I absolutely loved!! I realised the brand was Australian (Made With Love) and only had shops in London and Manchester so I thought I’d never find it. Then a few months later after we had booked the venue I was on Instagram and saw Elizabeth Kate was doing a trunk show for MWL and the dress I had seen was going to be stocked!! So I instantly looked at their page and loved the vibe of the shop so I booked an appointment straight away!

Saying Yes to Posie

This is when we all decided that I would try my favourite dress on last to make sure we didn’t fall in love too quickly! I tried on so many other beautiful ones but the second I tried the last dress on (Posie) I just absolutely loved it! It was exactly what I had imagined and I was so happy I had finally found the dress from Pinterest and it actually suited me!

Making My Dress My Own

After I had picked Posie we all felt like something was missing slightly, this was when Holly showed me that they were releasing a newer version of Posie but with a basque waist. I absolutely loved this idea and it made the dress so much more flattering on me! I am so grateful that we changed it slightly because it was just so perfect!! We also added off the shoulder sleeves that could pop on and off to make the dress a little more unique and I was soo happy with them! I actually only took them off for the first dance because I loved them so much! They also added a bustle for me so I wouldn’t trip over the train during our first dance.

My Advice to Other Brides

One piece of advice I would say is be opened mined! When I was first asked what I wanted I thought I’d go for a bigger dress but when I tried one on in the first dress shop I hated it! It didn’t suit my height or figure at all so when we went to Elizabeth Kate I tried on a few that I maybe wouldn’t have picked myself and loved them!!

Why I’d Recommend Elizabeth Kate Bridal

I would absolutely say yes they need to come here!! You are both so friendly and kind! myself and my family felt very special during our appointments. You gave some really good advice and made what can sometimes be a stressful experience very calming.

My Wedding Planning Advice

Advice for planning is don’t let too many opinions in! It can really change how you see your day/what you want to book ect.,! Make sure that you are doing what you and your partner want and not what everyone around you wants! Remember it’s your day!!

Our Wedding Suppliers

I would absolutely recommend our photographer @jesshazlehurstphotograhy and @rosievideographer !! They were incredible all day and despite never meeting before they worked perfectly together!!

Thank you, Eleanor, for sharing your story with us and for trusting us to be part of such a special chapter.

FAQ's

When should I start wedding dress shopping?

We recommend starting your wedding dress search around 12–18 months before your wedding where possible. This gives you plenty of time to explore different styles, order your dress and allow time for alterations.

How long is a wedding dress appointment?

Our first bridal appointments are private two-hour appointments, giving you plenty of time to relax, try different styles and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

How many people should I bring to my wedding dress appointment?

We recommend bringing a small group of people whose opinions you genuinely trust. Too many opinions can make the decision harder, so keeping your group small often makes for a more relaxed appointment.

Can I personalise my wedding dress?

Yes. Depending on the designer and dress, there may be options to personalise elements of your gown. Our bridal team can talk you through the possibilities when you find a dress you love.

What should I bring to my wedding dress appointment?

Wear underwear you feel comfortable in and bring any inspiration that might help us understand your style. Most importantly, come with an open mind, you don't need to have your whole wedding dress vision worked out before your appointment.
