Some wedding dresses just feel different the moment you put them on. For our gorgeous bride Katie, that dress was Eva Lendel Lika.

And one of our favourite details? Katie's aunt conducted their wedding ceremony. How special is that?

Their Love Story

How did you and Adam meet?

My husband and I met through work, when I was new to my role (7 years ago) I got to choose a station to visit for the day, the station I chose for the day is where I met my husband. I had the choice of 10 stations!

Tell us about the proposal!

We got engaged in November 2023 after three years of being together, it was on a beach in Cancun, Mexico. It was our first night, I had a Margarita in hand and Adam all of a sudden asked me if I was happy… I was like errrmmm yes? Hello? We’ve just arrived in Mexico and I have a Margs in hand? And then he got down on one knee, it was really sweet.

The Wedding Day at Mount Pleasant Hotel, Doncaster

When and where did you get married?

We got married at Mount Pleasant Hotel, Doncaster in August 2026.

What was your wedding theme or vibe?

We didn’t have a theme as such, and our vibe was just everyone having a great time.

What was your favourite moment of the day?

Our favourite moment of the day… hmmm this is hard because we loved every second. I think my favourite moment was our ceremony. My Auntie is a registrar and conducted our ceremony which was really special.

Finding the One at Elizabeth Kate Bridal

Why did you choose Elizabeth Kate Bridal?

I chose Elizabeth Kate because I’m from Crowle and really wanted to support a local bridal shop, and also I’d heard very good things about Kim and Holly.

Tell us about your wedding dress!

My dress was a beautiful Eva Lendel Lika dress. I think my dress was the sixth or seventh dress I tried on, and something about it just felt different. Personally for me, the dress felt elegant and classy which is what I was after. it felt quality and just seemed to mould to me perfectly. I tried it on a second time and knew it was the one. It just felt like it was made for me.

Did you make any changes to your dress?

I customised my dress by adding buttons down the back, as this had always been something I wanted since being a little girl. And also a godet was added to the main dress to add a bit of drama to the train in absence of the detachable overskirt.

Dress Spotlight: Eva Lendel Lika

Modern elegance, beautiful structure and a little extra drama.

Eva Lendel Lika is one of those dresses that proves you don't need lots of embellishment to make an entrance.

Made in stretch Mikado, she features a sleek, fitted silhouette, a strapless neckline and beautiful folded detailing across the bodice. Her detachable overskirt offers the option of a fuller, more dramatic bridal look, while the main gown has that effortlessly elegant finish.

Katie fell in love with the way Lika fitted and felt, but it was the personal changes that made her even more special.

Buttons were added down the back, something Katie had dreamed of since she was little, while a godet was added to give the main dress a more dramatic train when worn without the detachable overskirt.

The result was a gown that felt completely Katie: elegant, timeless and with just the right amount of drama.

Katie's Advice for Future Brides

What advice would you give to brides searching for their wedding dress?

My one piece of advice for brides looking for their dress, obviously the first is go and see Kim and Holly at Elizabeth Kate. And secondly, try as many dresses as you need to before you decide. And take your time.

And your biggest piece of wedding planning advice?

My advice for future brides: enjoy every second of wedding planning and your actual wedding day. And also, I really really recommend having a Videographer. That was possibly the best decision we made as we get to relive our day by watching it back. Trust me, get a videographer!

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I try Eva Lendel wedding dresses in Yorkshire?

You can try Eva Lendel wedding dresses at Elizabeth Kate Bridal in Crowle, North Lincolnshire, near Doncaster and Scunthorpe. Our boutique offers private two-hour bridal appointments with expert styling advice.

Can a wedding dress be customised?

Many wedding dresses can be personalised through alterations or additional design details, depending on the gown's construction. Options might include adding buttons, adjusting straps or changing the train. We can discuss what's possible for your chosen dress.

What is a detachable wedding dress overskirt?

A detachable overskirt, also known as a 2 in 1 dress, is an additional skirt layer that can be worn over a wedding gown to create a fuller silhouette. It can offer a more dramatic look for part of the day while allowing you to wear the main dress on its own.

How far in advance should I buy my wedding dress?

We recommend starting your wedding dress search around 12–18 months before your wedding where possible. Some designers have shorter ordering times, so it's always worth asking if your wedding is approaching sooner.

Do I need to book an appointment at Elizabeth Kate Bridal?

Yes, we work by appointment to give every bride dedicated time and attention. Our first bridal appointments last two hours, with a £20 non-refundable appointment fee. You can book directly through our website.
