Some love stories start with a first date. Laura and Luke's started much earlier, at just 11 years old.

They met at school and became best friends before finally admitting how they truly felt about each other at 15.

Years later, Luke proposed at Disneyland Paris with their little girl by their side. Less than nine months after their September 2025 engagement, they were married at Hirst Priory, with Laura walking down the aisle in her Janice by Rebecca Ingram wedding dress.

And there was another lovely connection to Elizabeth Kate Bridal, Laura had first visited us as a guest back in 2023, long before she became a bride herself.

From School Friends to Forever

Laura and Luke met at school when they were 11 years old.

They became best friends and stayed that way until they were 15, when they finally admitted how they truly felt about each other.

Fast forward to September 2025, and Luke proposed at Disneyland Paris, with their little girl there to share the moment.

"It was perfect!"

With less than nine months between their engagement and wedding, the planning began, and on Saturday 13th June 2026, Laura and Luke were married at Hirst Priory.

Their wedding theme was navy blue and white, bringing a classic colour palette to their day.

When Laura looks back on the wedding, she doesn't have one particular favourite moment.

"My favourite moment I don’t think I could pick! I loved spending time with all our friends and family on our special day!"

After years of friendship, growing up together and eventually becoming husband and wife, having all their favourite people together was what made the day so special.

Laura Already Knew She Wanted to Visit Elizabeth Kate

Laura's Elizabeth Kate Bridal story actually began before her own wedding journey.

In 2023, she came along with a friend who had chosen her wedding dress at Elizabeth Kate.

That visit stayed with her.

"I came with my friend when she had picked an Elizabeth Kate dress for her wedding in 2023 and knew from that moment I wanted to look at Elizabeth Kate for my wedding dress when the time came!"

When the time finally came, Laura returned to the boutique as a bride herself.

And she loved the experience just as much as she'd hoped.

"Kim and Holly are so lovely and welcoming each appointment was like catching up with friends!"

For us, that's such a lovely compliment, especially because Laura had experienced Elizabeth Kate from both sides: first as a guest accompanying a friend, and later as a bride finding her own dress.

Finding Janice by Rebecca Ingram

Laura chose Janice by Rebecca Ingram, and it wasn't a long decision.

She knew almost immediately.

"I loved my dress! I chose the Rebecca Ingram - Janice. I knew as soon as I tried her on that she was the one."

The detail that really captured her was the lace.

"The lace detail was nothing like I had seen before!"

Laura also chose to personalise Janice with long lace sleeves, using the same lace detail as the gown and having them hand stitched on.

The result was a dress that kept everything Laura loved about Janice while adding a personal detail that made the finished look her own.

And Laura's reaction at her fittings says everything about how she felt in it:

"I felt so beautiful in my dress at the end of each fitting I didn’t want to take her off!"

Dress Spotlight: Janice by Rebecca Ingram

Laura's dress: Janice by Rebecca Ingram

The detail she fell for: The distinctive lace

Her personal touch: Long lace sleeves using matching lace, hand stitched onto the gown

How she felt: Beautiful, confident and completely herself

Laura's experience with Janice is a lovely example of why we encourage brides to explore what makes a dress feel right for them, rather than simply choosing a gown because it fits a particular trend.

For Laura, it was the lace. She immediately recognised something in the detail that felt like her and the addition of the long sleeves allowed her to personalise the look further.

Laura's Advice to Brides-to-Be

Laura's advice for brides beginning their own wedding dress search is simple:

"Go with an open mind and have fun! Who doesn’t like dressing up like a princess?"

And when asked whether she would recommend Elizabeth Kate Bridal:

"Definitely go to Elizabeth Kate. You won’t regret it, Kim and Holly are amazing!"

Her final piece of advice is one we think every bride should hear:

"Everything always works out in the end! Enjoy your day, it goes so fast so soak up every second!"

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start looking for my wedding dress?

We recommend starting your wedding dress search around 12–18 months before your wedding where possible. This gives you time to explore different styles, choose your dress, allow for production and complete your alterations.

If your wedding is sooner, don't panic, there may still be options depending on your wedding date and the dress you choose.

Do I need to book an appointment at Elizabeth Kate Bridal?

Yes. Elizabeth Kate Bridal is an appointment-only boutique, giving you dedicated time with your Fairy Dress Mother without the distractions of a busy bridal shop.

Book your private bridal appointment: Book an appointment

How many people can I bring to my bridal appointment?

We recommend bringing up to three guests. A smaller group usually makes for a more relaxed appointment and means you can keep the focus on finding the dress that feels right for you.

What sizes do you stock?

We have bridal samples available in a range of sizes, and wedding dresses can be ordered up to size 28, depending on the designer.

Do you offer wedding in house dress alterations?

Yes. We offer in-house wedding dress alterations, allowing your dress to stay with us throughout the fitting process.

Can I come back and try a wedding dress again?

Absolutely. If you need more time before making your decision, revisit appointments are available so you can try your favourites again and make your choice with confidence.

Do I need to know what style of wedding dress I want?

Not at all.

You can arrive knowing exactly what you want, with a Pinterest board full of ideas, or with absolutely no idea where to start.

We can help you explore different shapes and styles and, sometimes, the dress you fall in love with is the one you least expected.
