Real bride Rachel wearing her A-line wedding dress from Elizabeth Kate Bridal at her wildflower F1 wedding near Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire

Some weddings just have that feeling. The kind where everything is relaxed, joyful and completely, unapologetically them. Rachel and Ross's wedding at The Barn at Willerby Hill, Lincolnshire was exactly that, bright wildflowers, a brilliant F1 twist, a dance floor that didn't stop all night, and two dogs in flower collars that honestly stole the show.

We're based within easy reach of Scunthorpe, Hull, Doncaster and across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, and Rachel made the trip to see us after one not-so-great experience elsewhere. We are so glad she did. Watching a bride go from uncertain to absolutely sure is one of our favourite things, and Rachel's moment with the veil? We will never forget it.

If you're starting your wedding dress search and you're not quite sure where to begin, this one's for you.

Quick Facts

Bride & Groom: Rachel & Ross

Venue: The Barn at Willerby Hill

Dress: Rebecca Ingram Hattie Lane - A-line gown with customised full-length veil, Elizabeth Kate Bridal

Wedding Style: Bright Wildflowers meets F1

Here's Rachel's story, in her own words.

Rachel & Ross: A Wildflower Wedding

How We Met

Some would say I was his babysitter (5 years younger) but really I was his sisters school friend and we had to keep an eye on the younger brothers when I was round their house. When we were older and his sister moved back to Scunthorpe, Ross begged her from my number, she gave in.... the rest is history.

The Proposal

Proposal Christmas day 2023 in front of all my family at my parents home. He was on a 12 hour shift and come home early, all I kept asking was 'will you be in trouble with work' little did I know he clocked off early as he was coming to propose, all the family was in on it and I thought I was getting a holiday for Christmas.

The Wedding Day

We got married at the Barn at Willerby Hill a venue we fell in love with on a random visit to their open day. We wanted the wedding to be fun and relaxed, we are quite laid back and just wanted everyone to enjoy themselves. The theme was bright wildflowers meets F1 which I think we pulled off. Followed by a table captain dance off and the dance floor full all night.

I think both our favourite moment was when we say down to eat, a burger in hand and looking out to all our favourite people realising they are all here for us.

The Wedding Dress

I started following Elizabeth Kate Bridal on Instagram and thought their dresses looked lovely, following not a particularly great first dress shop visit elsewhere I booked in with them. When I first walked in I thought wow this is too nice for me 🤣 but sitting down with both Kim and Holly they immediately put me at ease and asked what I was looking for which I really wasnt sure, I think all I knew was I wanted it A-line. I am very indecisive and was never felt rushed I was able to try on as many as needed. When I tried the Rebecca Ingram Hattie Lane wedding dress I chose, I didn't immediately think oh this is the one but after trying others I just knew I wanted to try that one on again and then I knew. Then I tried this on will a full length veil and thought this is it. They also customised my veil to match my dress, I didn't want to take the veil off at all on the day, the only reason I did was that people kept standing on it.

If someone was to consider visiting you for their dress I would say do it, no hesitation . It was a great experience for something I was dreading a little bit. I'd say try on as many styles as needed even if t's ony to eliminate what you don't want.

Advice on the Wedding Day

Just enjoy it and try not to worry about people having a good time. They are all their for you, I asked so many people if they were ok and happy and all of them said yes shut up go have fun and enjoy your day, and try not to feel guilty if you dont spend lots of time with everyone, the day is for you two so dance, be together and enjoy the day you have spent lots of time planning.
