HOLLY AND MATT: Real Elizabeth Kate Bride Wearing Eva Lendel Lea Wedding Dress

Updated: Aug 2

This is one for the slow-burn romantics. After a classic Hinge-to-happily-ever-after love story, our gorgeous EK bride Holly tied the knot with Matt in the breathtakingly character-filled Homme House, the kind of weekend-long venue dreams are made of.

The proposal? A picture-perfect moment in her favourite place in the world, Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, camera set up, best friend in on the plan, and a Bali celebration that followed.

When it came to the dress, she was originally in love with a designer gown well beyond budget… until fate brought her to Elizabeth Kate Bridal, where she discovered Eva Lendel, the dress that felt even better and transformed throughout the day.

Her favourite part of the wedding? Saying their vows indoors after a last-minute change of plan due to rain and the moment the sun broke through was unforgettable.

From personalised bookmarks to Icelandic honeymoon photos in their wedding outfits, this wedding was full of intentional, beautifully creative moments that made it uniquely theirs.

How did you two meet?

Online! Good old hinge! At the time he was managing a gym not far from where I lived. We found out later our paths might have crossed back in Nottingham in our uni days as he went to the bar I worked at at the time!

How did you know they were the one?!

Matt says he knew very quickly! For me it was the little things that added up like a romantic slow burn! But I definitely knew when he met me at the station with an umbrella as it was pouring down to walk me home (I’d forgot mine) it was almost like a romcom moment coming up the escalators and seeing him there. It just clicked!

What about the proposal, how did it go?

One of my favourite things about him is the thoughtfulness. I had no idea about the proposal but my best friend did! My favourite place is Singapore and we were heading there and Bali for a holiday. Our first day I showed him my favourite spot in the gardens by the bay, he set the camera up (only then for a brief moment I thought maybe he would) and he did! My best friend lives in Singapore so she organised a dinner to celebrate! Then we headed to Bali. it was perfect!

Tell us about your venue, how did you choose it?

We knew we wanted character and something we could spend a weekend at. We were always told how quick the day goes so to make the most we wanted a Friday - Sunday venue. We looked at 3 in total and just knew Homme house was for us. The owners Charlie and Sara were wonderful and the house had so much character and charm to have the manor for a weekend was an incredible experience! And we will go back for our 1st anniversary

Tell us about your dress!

I was obsessed with a Zuhair Murad dress but didn’t fancy spending the entire wedding budget just on the dress. I tried on soooo many dresses at 5 different shops - I flicked between a flowy romantic version and the more structured design and finally I found the Eva Lendel wedding dress looked like the Murad dress, and even better could transform to give me different looks throughout! I actually first tried the Eva Lendel wedding dress in Chelsea but really didn’t like the experience and when we found you close to my home town with the dress I knew it was fate!

What was your favourite part of your wedding day?

The vows - I was so stressed about the rain and we had to change from outdoor to indoor so initially it was upsetting after all the plans - but the room in the end looked amazing the sun came out as we said our vows just seeing all the people we loved in one room was perfect

Any changes? (Things you wish you’d done or wish you hadn’t!)

We had an audio guest book and a POV app for people to capture pictures - the guest book didn’t record any messages which was disappointing especially with our grandparents voices on there and the guests didn’t use the app - so always triple check tech things! And don’t stress about the small “entertaining” stuff everyone just wants to chat and catch up and spend time together you don’t need the gimics!

Any tips for brides to be?

  • The best tip I had was to make each moment in the run up to the wedding count! Like catering go have a date night and try the food, we did a venue check and stayed the weekend to also try our cakes, a pre photoshoot at the venue was perfect to help our photographers on the day

  • If your creatively inclined make what you can it was so satisfying to look at all the little personal touches - bookmarks for placeholders, the decorations, the jewellery for my bridesmaids and me.

  • Bonus tip - take your outfits on your honeymoon! We took ours for our mini moon to Iceland and got to dress up again and take even more pictures! It was just us (Matt is a photographer) so we just had a laugh messing about and freezing!
