How did you meet?

We went to the same school, and I remember him as the “cool older guy”, who was a few years ahead of me in school. Both his parents were actually my primary school teachers, so I like to joke that I met my parents-in-law before I even knew my husband! But the way we actually reconnected is quite funny: his best friend took his phone one day and started scrolling through Tinder. He recognised me from school, matched with me, and started chatting - pretending to be Di - because he wanted to help him meet someone nice. After the first few conversations, Di took over… but I only found out the truth a whole year later!

Tell us about your proposal

It was truly special: it happened at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro during a Paul McCartney concert (my absolute idol!). Di didn’t want to bring the ring to such a big event, so he printed a picture roll and placed it inside the ring box instead. As I unrolled it, I saw photos of all our favourite moments together, and the very last picture was of the engagement ring itself, which he gave me later that night when we got back to the hotel. It was perfect. The soundtrack was “In my life - The Beatles”, the same song that played in our ceremony when my sister and his brother were bringing the rings.

Where did your wedding take place?

It took place in a beautiful rustic venue in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, called La Toscana.

Tell us a little about the vibe or theme of your day

Our wedding was a mix of modern and boho styles, filled with different types of flowers and lots of natural greenery to reflect the beautiful biodiversity in Brazil. The main colours were green, pink, and orange, a vibrant tropical palette. Our decorator also surprised us with a small “English pub” corner, which was so meaningful since our married life begins with a move to the UK. It was such a fun and thoughtful touch!

Tell us about the dress!

My beautiful Eva Lendel Tayra wedding dress! I first saw it long before I was even engaged, during a random conversation with my sister about which wedding dresses we’d choose if we ever got married. We were just browsing Pinterest for fun when she found that Tayra dress and said, “This is your dress.” At the time, I had no wedding plans, but when I got engaged, I knew immediately that it had to be that one.

How did you know it was ‘the one’?

Ever since my sister sent me that Pinterest photo, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I tried on several other dresses in the UK but never found anything that made me forget Tayra. Eventually, after searching across multiple stores (and even in other countries!), I found EK. At my first appointment, I tried a few dresses just for fun, but the moment I put on Tayra, I had no doubt it was the one.

Any special memory from your EK appointment you’d love to share?

My first appointment was really special. Since my family lives in Brazil, I went with two close friends. When I arrived, my chosen dress was hanging near the fitting room, and I couldn’t stop looking at it! I tried on two or three dresses first, but I couldn’t wait to wear that one. The moment I did, I felt completely myself: comfortable, happy, and emotional. I called my family in Brazil right away, and they were all so excited and happy about my choice

What was your favourite moment on the wedding day?

Honestly, I loved every single second: from getting ready to the ceremony to the incredible party. I don’t think I’ve ever danced so much in my life! The ceremony was emotional and beautiful, the drinks were amazing, the band was perfect, and all the food was vegetarian and vegan, just like I’d always dreamed. I couldn’t possibly choose one favourite moment, the entire day was absolutely magical

What advice would you give to brides planning now?

The wedding day is, of course, unforgettable, but the whole planning journey is also something you’ll always cherish. Choose suppliers you feel comfortable with, who bring you peace of mind. Be open and light-hearted with them, and don’t let stress overshadow the joy of this moment. A wedding is about happiness, so enjoy it fully and be kind to yourself along the way.

Any last thoughts you’d love future EK brides to know?

Choose a dress that truly reflects your personality. Don’t just “dress like a bride”, dress like yourself as a bride. That’s what makes it special.
