We’re so excited to share this gorgeous story with you, a love that blossomed not once, but twice!
Meet our beautiful EK Bride Tatenda, who reconnected with her soulmate at a family wedding years after first meeting. From a magical proposal in their summer cabin to a dreamy beachside celebration in Tanzania, her journey to “I do” is nothing short of romantic perfection. And of course, her gown, our stunning Ameera, couldn’t have been a more perfect match.
How did you meet?
We first met in 2008 at a family function then re-united in 2022 at a family wedding, so it's actually true like in all the romantic movies I have watched it's possible to reconnect and meet the love of your life at a wedding. Tell us about your proposal
We were home one early evening just the two of us playing music and chilling in the summer cabin. A couple of minutes into our chilled session, he asked me to switch the type of music I was playing to more romantic songs which I found strange but didn’t question. Then the summer cabin door opened at some point because of the wind, I went to shut the door as it was going to make the cabin cold then when I turned around he was on his knees proposing. I was so shocked and surprised and I didn’t even know what to say or react (he insists I laughed at him and took too long to reply, I disagree lol ) this was on the 24th of July 2024
When did you get married?
10th of august in 2025
Where did your wedding take place?
We got married at white sands hotel in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania
Tell us a little about the vibe or theme of your day?
It was an outdoorsy beach vibe wedding, because the venue was so big and had multiple garden, we have the ceremony in one garden then the reception was at another garden at the hotel. But we had a marquee setup. The décor was white and green with chandelier and really we were going for a romantic yet simple setup. So I suppose we could say it was romantic the aesthetics
Tell us about the dress!
Ameera by Serene, that was the dress' name. It had a structured sheer bodice with exposed boning which I love because it was sexy yet classy. At the bottom it was a fitted crepe wedding dress and it also had detachable straps.
How did you know it was 'the one'?
I knew it was the one the minute I tried her that’s when I felt like a bride, and it just made sense for my destination wedding. It has the perfect combination of sexy yet classy which sometimes is so hard to find such a balance with a wedding dress.
Any special memory from your EK appointment you'd love to share?
Honestly I loved every appointment I went for but I suppose if I must pick one I would say the very first one. This is when we choose the dress, I described the romantic beach wedding dress to Kim and Holly as what I wanted. I browsed several options of my choosing as well as some of theirs based on the spec I had given them. All the dresses were fabulous but none jumped out. Then I asked them to pick one for me not necessarily based on my spec and what I thought and I wanted. And that dress turned out to be Ameera!! So they had the magic eye and golden touch. This moment was one that was special and stood out to me because they helped me say yes to the dress.
What was your favourite moment on the wedding day?
Seeing my husband for the first time on the day and just walking down the aisle with everyone looking at me, and obvs me trying not to fall or start crying before I made it to my husband lol What advice would you give to brides planning now?
I would say enjoy the process, honestly as much as it can be stressful and feel overwhelming enjoy it and on your big day just forget everything and any little things that might be niggling at you around the deco, are people enjoying themselves, is the weather going to be perfect etc. It's your day and it will go by quickly so enjoyyyy every minute of it :)
