WEDDING PLANNING - WHERE DO I START?

Updated: Dec 7, 2023

Planning a wedding is an exciting but sometimes overwhelming process! Here’s a few tips to help you get started:

Vibe

Have a vision. Before you even start planning, consider what you and your partner want your day to look like. Do you want an intimate gathering with only your closest friends and family or a bigger celebration with lots of guests?

Budget

Create a budget. Estimate how much you can reasonably spend on your entire wedding. Knowing your financial investment before you start will help you make decisions. Once you have the overall budget planned start to think about how you’ll divide the funds among the various elements of the wedding. It’s a good idea to think about what’s important to YOU and prioritize those things first.

How much do things cost? Not sure what’s realistic? For a quick and easy estimate you could join a few wedding groups, there’s loads on Facebook and ask other brides to be. But for a much more realistic estimate for YOUR wedding plans reach out to a few suppliers and explain that you're just in the early budget stages of planning, most will be able to give you an estimate of how much their services will cost.

Date

Choose a date that works for both of you. Consider the season and holidays as well as any important dates that may conflict with the wedding. Keep in mind that certain times of the week or year may be less or more costly

Guest list

Create a guest list and keep it manageable. Do they need inviting? Do you WANT to invite them? Make sure to account for any potential guest additions or subtractions.

Venue

This should be the first thing on your booking list. Choose a meaningful venue. Consider a place that has personal significance to you and your partner. It could be a spot where you first met, a place you used to visit with your families, or a destination you two have always dreamed of visiting. Do the venues in mind fit your needs? Consider the location, size, and amenities offered before making a decision.

Dress

Let’s be honest its all about the dress! (Okay we are a little bias) There’s far too much to go into here so we’ll talk about this in a separate post. But as a guide our designer dresses range between £1399 and £2500

Details

These are the things that bring your vision to life and make your wedding unique and memorable. Get creative. There are lots of alternative ways to make your day special, like having a brunch instead of a dinner reception or renting an Airbnb instead of a hotel.

Research vendors and book the ones you need. Look for reviews, compare prices, and consider the services they provide.

Think about:

  • Photographer

  • Videographer

  • Venue decorations

  • Food and drinks

  • Music – for ceremony, daytime and evening reception. Do you want live music or recorded?

  • Florist – For décor and bridal bouquet

  • Cake – will you have a traditional cake or something else like a doughnut wall?

By following these steps, you should be well on your way to planning a beautiful wedding that you and your guests will enjoy! Good luck!
